TheSouth Branch Meduxnekeag River is a 15.2-mile-long (24.5 km)[1] river inAroostook County,Maine. From the outflow of Johnson Pond (46°02′07″N67°55′16″W / 46.0353°N 67.9210°W /46.0353; -67.9210 (Red River source)) inLinneus, the river runs about 5.8 miles (9.3 km) southeast toCary, before running into the Lt. Gordon Manuel Wildlife Management Area inHodgdon, then north about 9.4 miles (15.1 km) to itsconfluence with theMeduxnekeag River at Carys Mills, two miles upstream fromHoulton.
