International cricket tour
TheSouth Africa women's cricket team toured England to play against theEngland women's cricket team in June and July 2022.[ 1] [ 2] [ 3] Women's One Day Internationals (WODIs) and twoWomen's Twenty20 Internationals (WT20Is), with all the matches taking place at theCounty Cricket Ground inDerby .[ 4] COVID-19 pandemic .[ 5] England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced a new schedule for the tour,[ 6] [ 7] Women's Test match .[ 8] played India in November 2014 .[ 9] points-based system was used across all three formats of the tour.[ 10]
For the one-off Test match, England fielded four debutants, while South Africa had nine of their players earn their maiden Testcap .[ 11] Marizanne Kapp scored 150 runs before South Africa were bowled out for 284 by the close of play on day one.[ 12] declaring their innings, withNat Sciver andAlice Davidson-Richards both making centuries.[ 13] [ 14] not out .[ 15]
England won the first WODI by five wickets,[ 16] Emma Lamb scoring herfirst century in an international match.[ 17] Sophia Dunkley also scored her first century in WODI cricket.[ 18] [ 19] [ 20]
England won the opening WT20I match by six wickets, withKatherine Brunt taking her 100th wicket in the format.[ 21] [ 22] Nat Sciver captained England for the second WT20I, afterHeather Knight was ruled out of the match with a hip injury.[ 23] [ 24] [ 25] [ 26] [ 27] [ 28]
In April 2020, England's seriesagainst the India women's cricket team was postponed due to theCOVID-19 pandemic .[ 29] Clare Connor , the Director of Cricket for theEngland and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), suggested that this tour could become a tri-series with India and South Africa.[ 30] [ 31] [ 32] Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) andCricket South Africa (CSA) about a possible tri-series.[ 33] behind closed doors .[ 34] [ 35] impact of the pandemic in India , with the ECB looking to add further matches between England and South Africa.[ 36]
When the ECB published the original fixtures for the tour in January 2020, the matches were scheduled to be played at six different venues around England.[ 37] County Cricket Ground inDerby ,[ 38] [ 39] [ 40] Derbyshire County Cricket Club would play their Championship matches away from home.[ 41] Pretoria ahead of the series.[ 42] [ 43]
On 15 August 2020, the ECB confirmed that they were also in talks withCricket West Indies .[ 44] West Indies women's cricket team could tour England in place of the South African team, due to an increase in coronavirus restrictions in South Africa.[ 45] [ 46] [ 47] touring England .[ 48]
Issy Wong was initially named as a travelling reserve for England Women's Test team.[ 55] [ 56] Emily Arlott was ruled out of the match after not recovering fromCOVID-19 .[ 57] Lizelle Lee announced her retirement from international cricket.[ 58] Masabata Klaas andDelmi Tucker were added to South Africa's squad for the remaining matches of the series.[ 59] Marizanne Kapp andTumi Sekhukhune were both ruled out of South Africa's squad withTazmin Brits added to their team.[ 60]
