Soura (Urdu pronunciation:[sɔːɾɑː]), known asSovur (Kashmiri pronunciation:[soʋur]) inKashmiri, is a neighborhood in Indian-administered Srinagar in the disputed region ofJammu and Kashmir. It is located about 9km north ofLal Chowk, Srinagar , on theSrinagar-Ladakh Highway in Jammu and Kashmir, India.[3] Soura is noted forthe Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, a multi-specialty hospital. Besides serving as a hospital, it is the medicaldeemed university of Kashmir Valley. Soura is located nearAnchar Lake. The whole western side of the area is covered by Anchar Lake.[4][5]It also hosts a famous Muslim Shrine known as Asar-e-Sharif Jinab Sahib Soura, which holds more than 13 holy relics.[6]
