Soul blues is a style ofblues music developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s that combines elements ofsoul music andurban contemporary music.[1]

American singers and musicians who grew up listening to the electric blues by artists such asMuddy Waters,[2]Jimmy Reed, andElmore James, and soul singers such asSam Cooke,Ray Charles[3] andOtis Redding[4] fused blues and soul music.[1]Bobby Bland was one of the pioneers of this style.[1]
