Sophia Elsie Kiely (born 2000) is an EnglishOlivier Award-winningchild actress who played the title role inMatilda the Musical.[1][2][3] Kiely shared the role withCleo Demetriou,Kerry Ingram, andEleanor Worthington Cox.[1]

Career

Kiely played Matilda at theCambridge Theatre in theWest End debut ofMatilda the Musical. After rehearsing the show since August, she made her debut on 27 October 2011.[4] In April 2012 Sophia won anOlivier Award forBest Actress in a Musical along with her co-stars.[5][6] She made a special appearance as Matilda for West End Live inTrafalgar Square, performing "Naughty".[7]

Kiely graduated with a Master's in Mathematics from theUniversity of St Andrews in June 2023. She was a member of the University's improvised theatre group and received Piano Scholarships.
