Sophia Angeli Nelson (born January 5, 1967) is an American author and journalist.

Education and early career

She was born inMunich, Germany, and grew up inSomerdale, New Jersey, graduating fromSterling High School in 1985.[4] She received her B.A. in economics and political science fromSan Diego State University, and became politically active as a Republican in 1988 after hearingJack Kemp during the 1988 presidential primaries.[5] She was legal counsel to New Jersey GovernorChristine Todd Whitman[5][6] and ran for Congress inNew Jersey's 1st congressional district in 1996.[6] She was also a GOP counsel for theHouse Government Reform and Oversight Committee,[5] but ultimately decided to become a journalist and author. As of 2020, she is a political independent.[3] She is a member ofAlpha Kappa Alpha sorority.[7]
