Sony Classical is an Americanrecord label founded in1924 asColumbia Masterworks Records, a subsidiary ofColumbia Records. In 1980, the Columbia Masterworks label was renamed asCBS Masterworks Records. The CBS Records Group was acquired bySony in 1988, and in 1990 it was renamed Sony Classical.[1]
