TheSolomon Star is aSolomon Islands daily,English language[1] newspaper, launched on 25 May 1982. It is produced by theSolomon Star Company, whose owner, publisher and director was FatherJohn Lamani, who served until his death in 2012.[2][3] Lamani was also one of the paper's co-founders.[1] The newspaper's editor, as of 2004[update], isOfani Eremae.[4] In 2023, theOrganized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project reported that theSolomon Star received almost $US140,000 from theChinese government in return for pledges to "promote the truth about China's generosity and its true intentions."[5]
