Solgne (French pronunciation:[sɔlɲ];German:Solgen) is acommune in theMoselledepartment inGrand Est in north-easternFrance. It is located 22 kilometres (14 mi) by road southeast ofMetz and about the same distance northeast by road fromPont-à-Mousson. As of 2023, the population of the commune was 1,133.[3]

History

Solgne became part of France in 1661, butAlsace-Lorraine which Solgne lay in, was later under theGerman Empire from 1871 to 1918. Église Saint-Étienne was built in 1718 and restored in 1859.The village of Ancy-les-Solgne joined Solgne in 1810.

Geography

The commune borders the communes ofBuchy,Luppy,Secourt,Sailly-Achâtel and lies at an altitude of between 240 and 299 metres above sea level.[4] It covers an area of 7.3 km2.[4] TheSolgne Fault runs through the villages of Solgne andAchatel.[5]
