Softball will be reintroduced at the2028 Summer Olympics inLos Angeles after it was not contested at the2024 Summer Olympics inParis.Softball was on the Olympic program from 1996 to 2008. It was introduced at the1996 Atlanta Olympics and was removed from the program for 2012 and 2016, but was added for a one-off appearance, along withbaseball, for the2020 Summer Olympics (which was postponed to 2021 due to theCOVID-19 pandemic).[1]
Olympic softball is governed by theWorld Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC).
