TheSociety of Construction Arbitrators is a learned society ofarbitrators,adjudicators andmediators in theconstruction industry, based inLondon. It has as its object the development and support of commercial methods ofalternative dispute resolution. Members of the Society includearchitects,engineers,surveyors andlawyers from around the world.[1]
The society has published the Construction Industry Model Arbitration Rules (CIMAR),[2] which since being adopted as the standard by theJoint Contracts Tribunal, have been widely used for dispute resolution in the industry.[3] A less widely used publication is the 100-day Arbitration Rules.[4]
