TheSociety for Political Change (Latvian:Sabiedrība citai politikai, SCP) was asocial-liberal[2]political party inLatvia founded on 6 September 2008. Its members include two former ministers, former foreign ministerArtis Pabriks and former economics ministerAigars Štokenbergs; its first president was economistGatis Kokins.[3]
The SCP ran as part of theUnity rainbow party alliance in the2010 parliamentary election to theSaeima. The party won six seats, out of the list's total of 33. After the election, the SCP demanded that the right-wingNational Alliance,[4] which includes previous coalition partnersFor Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK, be excluded from the new government, which includedUnity and theUnion of Greens and Farmers.[5]
On 6 August 2011, it merged with two other parties to form the new political partyUnity.[6]
