TheSocialist Party of France (Parti socialiste de France) was asocialistpolitical party.
The party was founded in 1902 during a congress inCommentry by the merger of theMarxistFrench Workers' Party led byJules Guesde and theBlanquistSocialist Revolutionary Party ofÉdouard Vaillant.
Unlike theFrench Socialist Party ofJean Jaurès, it refused to support bourgeois governments and so to take part in theBloc des gauches coalition.
However, the two parties merged in 1905 under the pressure of theSecond International into theFrench Section of the Workers' International.
