TheSoacha River is a river on theBogotá savanna and a left tributary of theBogotá River.
Soacha is derived fromMuysccubun, the indigenous language of theMuisca, who inhabited the Bogotá savanna before theSpanish conquest and means "man of the Sun".[1]
The Soacha River originates in the eastern part of the locality ofBogotáCiudad Bolívar. It flows through the municipalitySoacha before flowing into the Bogotá River. Thetype locality of theCacho Formation is located in the Soacha River basin.[2]
