Silk Performer is asoftware performance testing tool that is used to test and ensure efficient performance across various platforms includingweb,mobile, andenterprise applications. The tool was originally developed by Segue Software, which was later acquired by Borland in 2006. Subsequently, Borland became a part of Micro Focus in 2009. Micro Focus was later acquired byOpenText in 2023.
The primary function of Silk Performer is to maintain consistent application performance and server uptime, especially during periods of peak user engagement. It is designed to identify performance issues through integrated diagnostics and provides trending reports for analysis."[citation needed]
Silk Performer supports major Web 2.0 environments like Adobe’s Flash/Flex, Microsoft Silverlight, and HTML/AJAX. Silk Performer also supports load testing Web applications at the protocol level (HTTP).
Silk Performer helps predict and prevent outages to future-proof business performance. Supports mobile web devices and cloud computing generation load through cloud technologies.[2][3]
Load testing is also made with the help ofJMeter,LoadRunner,WebLoad, etc.[4]
