Thesiege of Pest (modern city ofBudapest,Hungary) occurred in 1542, whenFerdinand I attempted to recover the cities ofBuda andPest in 1542 from theOttoman Empire.[1] They had been occupied by theOttomans underSuleiman since thesiege of Buda (1541).[2]
The siege was led byJoachim of Brandenburg.[2] The siege was repulsed by the Ottomans, who would remain in control of centralHungary for the following 150 years.
