Thesiege of Narva was the siege of the city ofNarva (in modern-day easternEstonia, then part of theState of the Teutonic Order) by the forces of theTsardom of Russia from April through May 1558, during theLivonian War.[1][2] After capturing the city in July 1558, Russian merchants were able to use the Narva area as a trading center and port to move goods fromPskov andNovgorod to theBaltic Sea. The tsardom of Russia controlled the city until 1581, when it was captured by Swedish forces underPontus De La Gardie.
