Emile "Sidward" Edwards is an American politician who is themayor-president ofBaton Rouge,Louisiana.[1] A Republican, he was elected mayor-president in arunoff election held on December 7, 2024, defeating incumbent Mayor-PresidentSharon Weston Broome.[2] He was sworn in on January 2, 2025.[3]
Edwards is a newcomer to the Louisiana political stage; at 61 years-old, he is known in the local community as the long-time head football coach and dean of students atIstrouma High School.[4]
