TheSibuyan Sea is a small sea in thePhilippines separatingLuzon and theVisayas.

It is bounded by the island ofPanay to the south,Mindoro to the west,Masbate to the east, and to the northMarinduque and theBicol Peninsula of Luzon.

The Sibuyan Sea is connected to theSulu Sea via theTablas Strait in the west, theSouth China Sea via theIsla Verde Passage in the northwest, and theVisayan Sea via theJintotolo Channel in the south-east. TheRomblon Islands lie within the Sibuyan Sea.

History

The sea was the site of theBattle of the Sibuyan Sea on October 24, 1944, where theJapanese battleshipMusashi was sunk and other ships were damaged.
