TheShire of Emerald is a formerlocal government area in theCentral Highlands region ofQueensland,Australia. On 15 March 2008 the shires ofDuaringa, Emerald,Bauhinia andPeak Downs were amalgamated to form theCentral Highlands Region.[2] Its administrative centre is based aroundEmerald.
TheEmerald Division was separated from thePeak Downs Division on 4 June 1902.
On 31 March 1903, Emerald Division became the Shire of Emerald.
