TheShinseikai (Japanese:新政会,lit. 'New Politics Society') was a political party inJapan between 1917 and 1920.
The party was established in October 1917 as a merger of theIshinkai (39 seats) and a group of 12 independentNational Diet members, becoming the third-largest party in theHouse of Representatives.[1] However, in February 1918, around half its members broke away to form theSeiwa Club. Another four members left in February 1920, and the party lost nearly all its seats in theMay 1920 elections. The following month its sole member was amongst the founders of theKōshin Club, alongside theSeikō Club and some independents.[1]
