Shernyl Curzohn Burns (born 11 October 1991) is aWest Indiancricketer andsprinter. Burns is a right-handedbatsman who bowlsleg breakgoogly. He was born onMontserrat, who he also represented in sprinting at the2010 Commonwealth Games.
In January 2008,Montserrat were invited to take part in the2008 Stanford 20/20, whose matches held officialTwenty20 status. Burns made his Twenty20 debut for Montserrat in their preliminary round match against theTurks and Caicos Islands.[1] In the Turks and Caicos Islands innings of 67 for 9, Burnsran out bothDonovan Matthews andSabuton John. He wasn't required to bat in Montserrat's nine wicket victory.[2] He made a second appearance in the following first round match againstNevis,[1] ending Montserrat's unsuccessful chase of 186unbeaten with a single run.[3] In 2008 and 2009, he played at Under-19 level for theLeeward Islands, making a total of six appearances.[4]
Outside of cricket, he competes inathleticssprinting events for Montserrat.[5] He competed forMontserrat at the 2010 Commonwealth Games inIndia, competing in theMen's 100 metres, where he was eliminated in Heat Six and in theMen's 200 metres, where he was eliminated in Heat Eight.[6] He attended theUniversity of the West Indies.[5]
He competed in the100 metres event at the2013 World Championships in Athletics.[7][8]
