Shellfish poisoning includes four syndromes that share some common features and are primarily associated withbivalve molluscs (such asmussels,clams,oysters andscallops.)[1] Asfilter feeders, theseshellfish may accumulatetoxins produced by microscopic organisms, such ascyanobacteria,diatoms anddinoflagellates.
