Sheldon Ocker (born August 22, 1942) is an Americansportswriter.
Ocker attendedBuchtel High School inAkron, Ohio, graduating in 1960. He attendedOhio State University, and graduated with a degree inpolitical science in 1964.[2]
He worked for one year at theSandusky Register, and was hired by theAkron Beacon Journal in 1967.[3] For theBeacon Journal, he covered high school sports for three years,[2] theCleveland Cavaliers for ten years, and covered theCleveland Indians from 1981 through 2013.[4]
He was the President of theBaseball Writers' Association of America in 1985.
Ocker was named the 2018 winner of theJ. G. Taylor Spink Award.[5][6][7]
