Shekhawati is anIndo-Aryan language of north-easternRajasthan,India. It belongs to theRajasthani languages group and is spoken by an estimated three million people in theShekhawatiregion, which comprises theJhunjhunu,Neem-Ka-Thana andSikar districts according to Census 1931 provided by Government of India.[2]

Adescriptive grammar of Shekhawati was published in 2001. The word order of the language is typicallySOV, and the phonology is characterised by the presence ofimplosive consonants and a distincthigh tone.[citation needed]
