Sheila Hamanaka is an American freelancechildren's author andillustrator.

Life

Hamanaka is aSanseiJapanese American,[1] the daughter of actorConrad Yama and Mary Takaoka of the Vaudeville groupTaka Sisters. She has two older siblings; the writer and musicianV. Vale, and musician/singer Lionelle Hamanaka.[2]

Hamanaka lives inTappan, New York.[3]
