Shchastia Raion (Ukrainian:Щастинський район,romanized: Shchastynskyi raion;Russian:Счастьинский район) is araion (district) ofLuhansk Oblast,Ukraine. It was created in July 2020 as part of the reform of administrative divisions of Ukraine. Thede jure administrative center of the raion is thecity ofShchastia, although, until 2022, thede facto administrative center was located in theurban-type settlement ofNovoaidar because the city of Shchastia was situated too close to territory controlled byRussia via itsLuhansk People's Republic proxy militias.[3][4] Population:77,615 (2022 estimate).[2] Following the full-scaleRussian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the entire region fell under Russian control.[citation needed]
