Sharmiela Mandre (born 28 October 1987) is an Indian actress and producer who primarily works inKannada films. She made her acting debut withSajni (2007) and then received success withKrishna, the same year. Mandre turned producer with the Tamil filmEvanukku Engeyo Matcham Irukku (2018).^[3]

Post her debut, she received praises for the Kannada filmsVenkata in Sankata (2009) andSwayamvara (2010). She made her Tamil debut withMirattal (2012) and Telugu debut withKevvu Keka (2013). For the latter, she receivedSIIMA Award for Best Female Debut – Telugu nomination. Mandre's other notable work includeAake (2017),Gaalipata 2 (2022) andPowder (2024).^[4]

Mandre was born on 28 October 1987^[2][5] inBangalore,Karnataka. Her father Dayananda Mandre is a businessman and a car-racing enthusiast. Her grandfather Ramananda Narayanrao Mandre^[6] was a film producer, distributor and the founder of Sangam Talkies, Bangalore. Mandre's paternal auntSunanda Murali Manohar, was a film producer.^[7] She completed her schooling fromSophia High School, Bangalore.^[8]

Mandre made her film debut withSajni in 2007, which was produced by her auntSunanda Murali Manohar. She portrayed a college student oppositeDhyan.^[9]Rediff.com noted, "Newcomer Sharmila rocks and has a bright future ahead for her."^[10] She had her first commercial success with the filmKrishna oppositeGanesh.^[11]Rediff.com mentioned, "Sharmila, in her second film, proves that she is talented."^[12]Ee Bandhana was her final release of the year.^[13] In 2008, she appeared oppositeDarshan inNavagraha^[14] and played a special role inMast Maja Maadi.^[15]

Mandre appeared oppositeTarun Chandra inGoa.^[27]Times of India noted, "Sharmiela Mandre steals the show with a graceful performance."^[28] In December 2014, it was announced that she was selected to play the protagonist in theKhalid Mohammed's directorialKatha, a remake of 1983film of the same name, reprisingDeepti Naval's role. But the film got scrapped.^[29] In 2015, she portrayed the titular role inMumtaz, opposite Dharma Keerthiraj. Mandre had two releases in 2017. She appeared oppositeChiranjeevi Sarja inAake, a remake of Tamil filmMaya (2015), playing a single mother.^[32]Deccan Chronicle noted, "Sharmiela Mandre 'scares' with her top-notch acting and the rest revolves around her."^[33] While,The News Minute stated, "Sharmiela Mandre is shining on screen."^[34] In the same year, she also portrayed a journalist inShivarajkumar'sLeader.^{[citation needed]} She learnedbelly dancing for her role in the film.^[35]

Mandre took a hiatus of 4 years, from acting due to her production work. She made her screen comeback withGaalipata 2 in 2022. She portrayed a teacher oppositePawan Kumar.^[36][37]The Hindu mentioned, "Sharmila Mandre justify her character."^[38] The film was a commercial success.^[39] In 2023, Mandre played an aerospace engineer inMandala: The UFO Incident.^[40][41]The New Indian Express noted, "Sharmiela Mandre is convincing as the aerospace engineer, and she has accordingly worked on her looks and body language."^[42]

In 2024, Mandre played an assassin alongsideDiganth inPowder.^[43]The Hindu found her to be striking with her action moves.^[44] Mandre next has her productionDasara withSathish Ninasam in her kitty.^[45]

Mandre changed her name from Sharmila Mandre to Sharmiela Mandre in 2013, adding an extra "e" to her name. She termed it as a personal choice.^[46][47]

In 2020, Mandre suffered injuries after the car that she was travelling crashed against a pillar inBengaluru.^[48]

Mandre started her own production house named Sharmiela Mandre Productions, in 2018. She has produced Tamil filmsEvanukku Engeyo Matcham Irukku (2018) andNaanum Single Thaan under her production house.^[49][50] She will next produce the upcoming films, which include the Tamil filmsSandakkari andKaadhal Konjam Thookala, and the Kannada filmDasara, in which she stars too.^[51][52]

Mandre ranked 10th in 2012 and 8th in 2014 inBangalore Times' 25 Most Desirable Women List.^[53][54] In its30 Most Desirable Women List of 2020, she ranked 20th.^[55]
