Shanice Parker (born 16 May 1998) is an Australian-New Zealand professionalrugby league footballer who currently plays for theNewcastle Knights in theNRL Women's Premiership.
Primarily awinger orcentre, she has representedAustralia inrugby union andNew Zealand inrugby league.[2] She previously played for theSydney Roosters in theNRLW andNorth Sydney Bears in theNSWRL Women's Premiership.
Born inYangebup, Western Australia, Parker grew up playingrugby league for theWillagee Bears.[3] She stopped playing league when she was 12 and began playingrugby union when she was 15.[4] Her mother, Danielle, representedAustralia at the2000 Women's Rugby League World Cup.[5][6]
In 2015, Parker representedAustralia at the2015 Commonwealth Youth Games. In 2016, she was contracted to theAustralian sevens team.[7]
In 2018, she moved toSydney and joined theNSW WaratahsSuper W team, winning Grand Finals with the team in 2018 and 2019.[4] In 2019, she made her international debut forAustralia.[8][4]
In 2018, Parker returned torugby league, joining theNorth Sydney BearsNSWRL Women's Premiership team.[9]
In May 2019, she represented NSW City at the Women's National Championships.[10] In June 2019, she joined theSydney RoostersNRL Women's Premiership team.[11] In Round 3 of the2019 NRL Women's season, she made her debut for the Roosters in their 16–24 loss to theSt George Illawarra Dragons.[12]
On 25 October 2020, Parker started on thewing in the Roosters' 10–20Grand Final loss to theBrisbane Broncos.[13]
On 20 February 2021, she represented theMāori All Stars, scoring a try in their 24–0 win over theIndigenous All Stars.[14]
In June 2022, Parker signed with theNewcastle Knights for the 2022 season.[15] She made her club debut for the Knights in round 1 of the2022 NRLW season against theBrisbane Broncos.[16]
On 2 October 2022, Parker played in the Knights' 32-12NRLW Grand Final win over theParramatta Eels.[17]
In October 2022, she was selected for theNew Zealand squad at the delayed2021 Women's Rugby League World Cup in England.[2]
