Shane Davis is an Americancomic book artist best known for his work onSuperman andBatman forDC Comics.
Shane Davis attendedThe Kubert School in his hometown ofDover, New Jersey.[1] He entered the comics industry in 2003 atDC Comics by illustratingRobin #110 and a spot illustration inJLA-Z #3.[2] In the following year, he illustrated other DC titles includingNightwing #88 andWonder Woman #201, as well as theMarvel Comics' bookMarvel Halloween Ashcan 2004. In the ensuing years he illustrated a variety of titles for both publishers, such asMarvel Age Spider-Man,Action Comics, andBatman. One of his more notableBatman stories was 2006'sBatmanAnnual #25, which featured the return ofJason Todd.[3] That same year he illustratedJay Faerber's series,Noble Causes #17, forImage Comics. Davis also drew the miniseriesMystery in Space vol. 2, written byJim Starlin and featuringCaptain Comet.[4]
In 2007, Davis illustrated the first issue of theJLA/JSA crossover storyline "The Lightning Saga",[5] and then became the penciller forSuperman/Batman for issues #44–49.[6] In 2008, Davis was tapped by writerGeoff Johns to be the artist for aFinal Crisis tie-inone-shot entitledRage of the Red Lanterns,[7] which featured a lead-up to a story in the mainGreen Lantern title and its 2009 crossoverBlackest Night.[8] Davis' worked with writerJ. Michael Straczynski on theSuperman: Earth One graphic novel published in 2010.[9][10][11] A second volume ofSuperman: Earth One was released in 2012.[12]
Davis' projects since 2013 include theShadow Walk graphic novel forLegendary Comics[13][14] and a Batman story for theLegends of the Dark Knight series.[15] He wrote and drew the lead story inThe New Gods Special #1 (2017).[16]
In this story written by Judd Winick and drawn by Shane Davis, the villain Superboy-Prime unwittingly resurrected Jason by causing a time ripple.
