Shane Burgos (born March 19, 1991) is an American professionalmixed martial artist who currently competes in theLightweight division. Burgos previously competed forCage Fury Fighting Championships,Professional Fighters League (PFL), and theUltimate Fighting Championship.

Mixed martial arts career

Ultimate Fighting Championship

Burgos made his promotional debut on December 9, 2016 atUFC Fight Night 102 againstTiago Trator.[2] He won the fight by unanimous decision.[3]

Burgos's next fight came atUFC 210 againstCharles Rosa.[4] He won the fight via TKO in the third round.[5] Both participants were awardedFight of the Night for their performance.[6]

He then facedGodofredo Pepey on July 22, 2017 atUFC on Fox 25.[7] He won the fight by unanimous decision with scores of 30–26 (twice) and 29–28.[8]

On January 20, 2018 atUFC 220, Burgos foughtCalvin Kattar.[9] He lost the fight via TKO in the third round.[10] Subsequently, both participants were awarded theFight of the Night bonus. This resulted in Burgos first loss.[11]

Next, Burgos facedKurt Holobaugh on November 3, 2018 atUFC 230.[12] He won the fight via submission in round one.[13]

Burgos next facedCub Swanson on May 4, 2019 atUFC Fight Night 151.[14] He won the fight via split decision.[15]

Burgos's next and final fight of his prevailing contract was withMakwan Amirkhani on November 2, 2019 atUFC 244.[16] He won the fight via TKO in the third round.[17]

On March 29, 2020, news surfaced that after entertaining offers from various organizations, Burgos signed a new four-fight contract with the UFC.[18]

Burgos facedJosh Emmett on June 20, 2020 atUFC on ESPN: Blaydes vs. Volkov.[19] He lost the back-and-forth bout via unanimous decision.[20] Subsequently, Burgos earned his thirdFight of the Night bonus award.[21]

Burgos was expected to faceHakeem Dawodu on January 24, 2021 atUFC 257.[22] However, Dawodu was forced to withdraw from the bout, citing a shoulder injury. In turn, Burgos was removed from the card as well.[23]

Burgos facedEdson Barboza on May 15, 2021 atUFC 262.[24] Burgos lost the back-and-forth fight via knockout in the third round, experiencing a delayed reaction to being knocked out with a right cross.[25] This fight earned Burgos the $75,000Fight of the Night bonus award.[26]

Burgos facedBilly Quarantillo on November 6, 2021 atUFC 268.[27] Burgos won the fight via unanimous decision.[28]

Burgos facedCharles Jourdain July 16, 2022, atUFC on ABC 3.[29] He won the back-and-forth fight via majority decision.[30]

Professional Fighters League

Following his fight with Jourdain, the last on his UFC contract, Burgos indicated he would test free agency. On August 15, 2022, Burgos announced he had signed with theProfessional Fighters League (PFL).[31]

Burgos was scheduled to faceMarlon Moraes in his PFL debut on November 25, 2022 atPFL 10.[32] However, Burgos withdrew from the bout due to an injury.[33]

Moving up to Lightweight, Burgos started off the 2023 season againstOlivier Aubin-Mercier on April 14, 2023 atPFL 3.[34] He lost the bout via unanimous decision.[35]

Burgos faced Yamato Nishikawa on June 23, 2023 atPFL 6.[36] He won the fight by unanimous decision, but was eliminated from the PFL playoffs.[37] However, afterNatan Schulte andRaush Manfio were suspended for their bout, Burgos was allowed re-entry into the playoffs.[38]

Burgos facedClay Collard in the semi-finals of the lightweight tournament on August 23, 2023, atPFL 9.[39] He lost the bout via unanimous decision thus marking the first time he was defeated in his home state.[40]

On March 25, 2025, Burgos announced that he was a free agent.
