Sambaa, also Kisambaa, (ki)Shambaa, (ki)Shambala is spoken by theShambaa in theUsambara mountains in theLushoto District andMuheza District,Tanga Region, of northernTanzania. Some dialectal variation exists between the language as spoken in the area aroundLushoto and the areas aroundMlalo andMtae, possibly also between the Shambaa of theWestern Usambara Mountains and theEastern Usambara Mountains.
Five vowels are noted as [i, ɛ, a, ɔ, u].
