Shah Niamatullah Butshikan (Bengali:শাহ নিয়ামতউল্লাহ বুতশিকন,Persian:شاه نعمت الله بتشكن) was awali of the pre-Mughal Empire period.[1] He preachedIslam in theIndian subcontinent. His grave is situated inDilkusha, Dhaka.
The common understanding is that Niamatullah was originally a prince ofBaghdad in modern-day Iraq.[1] Adopting a spartan and disciplined lifestyle he went to theIndian subcontinent to preachIslam.[1] Settling inBengal he established hiskhanqah inDhaka.[1] He is credited with converting a large number of people toIslam, becoming known as awali orsaint.[1] His shrine is situated inDilkusha, Dhaka.[2][3]Khwaja Abdul Ghani financed the reconstruction of his shrine.[4]
