Thehook-billed bulbul (Setornis criniger) is a species ofsongbird in thebulbul family, Pycnonotidae. It is found in easternSumatra andBorneo, where its naturalhabitats aresubtropical or tropical moist lowland forest andsubtropical ortropicalswamps. It is threatened byhabitat loss.[1] Alternate names for the hook-billed bulbul include thelong hook-billed bulbul andlong-billed bulbul.
While currentlymonotypic within the genusSetornis,[2] originally the genus contained thehairy-backed bulbul (nowTricholestes criniger viridis).[3]
