Servigliano is acomune (municipality) in theProvince of Fermo in theItalian regionMarche, located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) south ofAncona and about 25 kilometres (16 mi) north ofAscoli Piceno. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,349 and an area of 18.5 square kilometres (7.1 sq mi).[3] It is one ofI Borghi più belli d'Italia ("The most beautiful villages of Italy").[4]
Servigliano hosts a World War I and II prison camp, theServigliano prison camp, which is now called "Parco della Pace" (Peace Park), serving as anItalian Republicmemorial about cruelty and abuse in all wars.On May 5th, 1944, from this prison camp, 31 Jews were deported toNazi concentration camps, and only 3 of them survived.[5]
