Sergio Rodríguez Viera (4 April 1928 – 6 April 1986) was aUruguayanfootballer who played as amidfielder, andfootball manager.
Rodríguez played for the UruguayanPrimera División, FrenchLigue 1, and SpanishLa Liga. After good seasons withRampla Juniors played two seasons with theStade Français which struggled to avoid relegation. In three seasons withCD Málaga where he scored goals, he signed forReal Madrid C.F. InMadrid played 5 league games. In the1954–55 season he joined toHércules CF where he spent 4 seasons at a good level. He was in Hércules where he started asplayer–manager on an interim basis. He later played on thethird level withAlicante CF andOrihuela Deportiva CF, where he also served as player-coach these teams.
Then began a coaching career that led him to spend practically all categories ofSpanish football. In the1968–69 season reached promotion toRCD Mallorca inLa Liga.[1]
Rodríguez' brother,Héctor Rodríguez Viera, was also a footballer, in teams asClub Nacional de Football.[2]
