Sergio Bertoni (Italian pronunciation:[ˈsɛrdʒoberˈtoːni]; 23 September 1915 – 15 February 1995) was an Italianassociation football manager and player, who played as astriker. With theItaly national team, he won the1936 Summer Olympics football tournament and the1938 FIFA World Cup.[1]
Born inPisa, Bertoni played forPisa Calcio (1935–1938) andGenoa C.F.C. (1938–1946) throughout his club career.
Bertoni obtained six international caps with theItaly national team between 1936 and 1940, and scored one goal. He won the gold medal at the1936 Summer Olympics and the1938 FIFA World Cup: withAlfredo Foni,Pietro Rava andUgo Locatelli, he is one of the only four Italian players to have won both tournaments.[2]
After World War II, Bertoni coachedSpezia Calcio 1906 in the 1950–51, 1955–56, 1956–57 and 1961–62 seasons. He died at 79 years old.
