Selenium dibromide is a compound made of oneselenium and twobromine atoms. It is unstable. No solid form of the compound has been discovered but it is a component of the equilibria in the vapour aboveselenium tetrabromide (SeBr4) and in nonaqueous solutions.[1] Inacetonitrile solution, selenium reacts withSeBr4 to form an equilibrium mixture containingSeBr2,Se2Br2 andBr2.[2] Thiscovalent compound has abent molecular geometry in the gas phase.[3]
