The nameSeilhan is thought to derive from an oldGallo-Roman geographical name (Caelius + anum) but seems to be associated with fountains and ponds, so may derive from another word meaning "bucket." Some variations on the name includeSeilan,Seilhean,Seillan, andSeillant.
