Chemical compound

sec-Butylbenzene is anorganic compound classified as anaromatic hydrocarbon. Its structure consists of abenzene ring substituted with asec-butyl group. It is a flammable colorless liquid which is nearly insoluble in water but miscible with organic solvents.[1]

Production

sec-Butylbenzene can be produced by the reaction of benzene with eithern-butyl alcohol orsec-butyl alcohol in presence of anhydrousaluminium chloride andhydrochloric acid.[2]
