Seaver King (born April 25, 2003) is an Americanprofessional baseballthird baseman andoutfielder in theWashington Nationals organization. He playedcollege baseball for theWake Forest Demon Deacons andWingate Bulldogs. King was selected tenth overall in the2024 MLB draft by the Nationals.
King was born on April 25, 2003, inAthens, Georgia, later attendingAthens Christian School.[1]
King began his college baseball career atWingate University. He batted .381 with 18 doubles, four home runs, and 44 RBIs during his freshman season with theBulldogs and was named first-team All-South Atlantic Conference (SAC).[2] After the season, King playedsummer collegiate baseball for theHarrisonburg Turks of theValley Baseball League (VBL) and was named a league all-star and the MVP of the VBL Southern Division.[3] As a sophomore he hit .411 with 91 hits and 53 RBIs and repeated as a first-team All-SAC selection.[4] Following the 2023 season he playedcollegiate summer baseball with theHarwich Mariners of theCape Cod Baseball League.[5][6] He transferred toWake Forest before his junior year.[7]
Professional career
[edit]King was drafted by theWashington Nationals with the 10th overall pick of the2024 Major League Baseball draft. On July 19, 2024, he signed with the Nationals on an underslot contract worth $5.15 million.[8]
