Sean Burns (born 6 October 1991, inRutherglen) is a Scottish semi-professionalfootballer who plays forEast of Scotland League Premier Division clubCamelon Juniors as aleft-back.
Burns made over 200Scottish League appearances forQueen's Park and was capped by Scotland atU19 level.
A product of theSt Mirren youth system, Burns won his maiden calls into the first team squad for two late-2007–08 season matches, but remained an unused substitute during both.[2] He signed his first professional contract in May 2008.[3] Burns made his senior debut for the club as a substitute forDennis Wyness after 72 minutes of a 2–2Scottish Premier League draw withFalkirk on 14 February 2009.[4] He made two further substitute appearances during the2008–09 season,[4] but failed to appear again before his release at the end of the2009–10 season.[5]
On 19 August 2010, Burns joinedSecond Division clubAirdrie United on a contract running until the end of the year.[6] He made four appearances before his release.[1][7]
In April 2010, Burns joinedScottish Third Division clubQueen's Park on a contract running until the end of the 2010–11 season.[8] He appeared in the Spiders' Second Division play-off campaign,[1] but could not help the team to promotion.[9] Burns signed a new contract in July 2011 and remained atHampden Park until the end of the2017–18 season,[10] but which time he had made 265 appearances and scored 26 goals for the club.[1] He was a part of the team that was promoted fromLeague Two at the end of the2015–16 season and was voted the club's Player of the Year.[11][12] He alsocaptained the team and played inevery outfield position.[13][14]
On 27 May 2018, Burns transferred to League One clubBrechin City.[15] He made 36 appearances and scored two goals during a dreadful2018–19 season,[16] which culminated in relegation to League Two.[17] Burns departed Glebe Park at the end of the season.[18]
On 29 May 2019, Burns joined League One clubForfar Athletic on a one-year contract.[18] He made 13 appearances and scored one goal before his departure in January 2020.[19][20]
On 25 January 2020, Burns transferred to League Two clubStenhousemuir on a contract running until the end of the2019–20 season.[20] He made four appearances before he was released.[19][21]
On 5 July 2020, Burns signed a contract with newly-relegated League Two clubStranraer.[22] He made 18 appearances during a2020–21 season which ended with a semi-final defeat in the League One play-offs.[23][24] Namedvice-captain,[25] Burns remained atStair Park for2021–22 and made 35 appearances during a mid-table season,[24] scoring two goals.[26] Work commitments led to his departure from the club in June 2022.[27]
In June 2022, Burns signed a two-year contract withWest of Scotland League Premier Division clubPollok.[3] He made 66 appearances and scored four goals across the2022–23 and2023–24 seasons.[28]
On 18 June 2024, Burns transferred toEast of Scotland League First Division clubCamelon Juniors.[29]
Burns was capped by Scotland atU19 level.[30]
