The design was built bySeafarer Yachts in theUnited States, starting in 1980, but the company went out of business in 1985, The boat was the last design to enter production by Seafarer.[1][3][5][6]
The Seafarer 37 is a recreationalkeelboat, built predominantly offiberglass, with wood trim. It has amasthead sloop rig, araked stem, a slightlyreverse transom, askeg-mountedrudder controlled by awheel and a fixed finkeel or optional shoal draft keel. It displaces 16,500 lb (7,484 kg) and carries 6,675 lb (3,028 kg) of lead ballast.[1][3]
The boat has a draft of 6.25 ft (1.91 m) with the standard keel and 5.00 ft (1.52 m) with the optional shoal draft keel.[1][3]
The boat is fitted with aninboard engine for docking and maneuvering. The fuel tank holds 30 U.S. gallons (110 L; 25 imp gal) and the fresh water tank has a capacity of 200 U.S. gallons (760 L; 170 imp gal). Cabin headroom is 6.42 in (16 cm).[1][3]
