Raymond Scott Hudson (born 1959) is a professor ofelectrical engineering andcomputer science atWashington State University. Hudson was educated atCaltech, where he received hisbachelor's degree inengineering andapplied science in 1985, hismaster's degree inelectrical engineering in 1986, and hisPhD inelectrical engineering in 1990. His research interests include radar imaging, optical signal processing, andradar astronomy.[1]
From August 19 to 22 of 1989, Hudson andSteven Ostro observed4769 Castalia from theArecibo Observatory, producing the first direct image of anasteroid.
Themain-belt asteroid5723 Hudson, discovered byEdward Bowell atLowell Observatory in 1986, was named in his honour.[1] The official naming citation was published on 9 September 1995 (M.P.C. 25654).[2]
