Scott Goodall MBE (7 November 1935 – 7 March 2016) was a British comics writer.

Career

Goodall started out his comics career in the early-to-mid 1960s. He was part of a rotating cast of writers for the spooky stripThe Strangest Stories Ever Told, published inSchool Friend. Goodall wroteCaptain Hurricane scripts forValiant comic from 1963 to 1976.

In 1965, he was heavily involved in the launch ofTV Century 21 (TV21) withAlan Fennell andAngus Allan. Goodall wrote theThunderbirds scripts for two years inTV21, drawn byFrank Bellamy; and also most of the scripts forZero X, drawn byMike Noble.

Goodall created and wrote the characterFishboy in 1968 (illustrated byJohn Stokes), and lesser-known characters such asSplash Gorton (illustrated byJoe Colquhoun). He also wroteGalaxus The Thing From Outer Space forBuster comic from 1968 to 1976.

Goodall's other well-known scripts includeMarney the Fox and the major successRat-Trap inCor!! comic in 1972. In 1977 he wrote two episodes ofM.A.C.H. 1 for2000AD. He wrote the comics adaptation of theHammer Productions filmThe Gorgon forHouse of Hammer issues #11–12, which was illustrated byTrevor Goring andAlberto Cuyas.

Goodall was a frequent contributor to the 1980s relaunch ofEagle, creating the stripsInvisible Boy andWalk Or Die, and working on other strips includingManix. AfterPat Mills stopped writingCharley's War forBattle Picture Weekly in 1985, Goodall took over and wrote the final episodes, set during theSecond World War.

In 1981 he moved to France.[1] He was made anMBE in 2005.
