Scincinae is asubfamily of lizards. The subfamily contains 33genera, and the genera contain a combined total of 284species, commonly calledskinks. The systematics is at times controversial. The group is probablyparaphyletic.[1] It is one of seven subfamilies of thefamilyScincidae, the other six beingAcontinae,Egerniinae,Eugongylinae,Lygosominae,Mabuyinae, andSphenomorphinae.
