InGreek mythology,Schoeneus (/ˈskɛnˌjuːs/;Ancient Greek: ΣχοινεύςSkhoineús, literally "rushy") was the name of several individuals:

• Schoeneus, aBoeotian king, the son ofAthamas andThemisto.^[1] He may have immigrated toArcadia, where a village Schoenous and a river Schoeneus flowing by it were believed to have been named after him,^[2] and where his children were believed to have originated. He was the father ofAtalanta,^[3][4] and also of the ArcadianClymenus.^[5]
• Schoeneus, son ofAutonous (son ofMelaneus) andHippodamia. He was the brother ofErodius,Acanthus,Acanthis andAnthus. When the latter was killed by their father's horses,Zeus andApollo pitied Schoeneus and transformed him into a bird.^[6]
• Schoeneus, a man who rearedOrestes, from whose home Orestes directed toArgos to avenge the death of his father onClytaemnestra.^[7]
