TheSchermerhorn Building is a historic structure at 376–380Lafayette Street, on the northwest corner withGreat Jones Street, in theNoHo neighborhood ofManhattan inNew York City.[3] It was built in 1888–1889 byWilliam C. Schermerhorn on the site of the Schermerhorn mansion, and rented by him to a boys' clothing manufacturer.[4] TheRomanesque Revival loft building was designed byHenry Hardenbergh, architect of thePlaza Hotel andThe Dakota. The building is constructed ofbrownstone,sandstone,terra-cotta and wood, and has dwarf columns made ofmarble.[5][6]
The building has been aNew York City Landmark since 1966,[4] and was added to theNational Register of Historic Places on December 28, 1979.
