Sawi orSawuy is alanguage of theSawi people of theTrans–New Guinea phylum spoken insago swamps in the southwestern parts of the Indonesian province ofPapua. Of the neighboring languages, it is most closely related to theAwyu languages to the east.[2]
Sawi is aninflecting language and uses both inflections of the stem and suffixes to indicate person, number, and tense.
