Saweru, orSaweroe, is aPapuan language spoken onSerui Island offshore ofYapen Island. It is closely related toYawa, of which it is sometimes considered a dialect.

Grammar

UnlikeYawa, Saweru lacks an inclusive-exclusive distinction for the first person plural pronoun. Saweru hasamai 'we', while Yawa hasream 'we (exclusive)' andwam 'we (inclusive)'.[2]: 553
